Velura Hair

ElixirAyurvedic-inspired hair and scalp oil

Amla, fenugreek and rosemary, slow-infused from a family recipe and blended with bhringraj, black seed and castor oils. Massage it in before you wash for softer, shinier, stronger hair.

What is Elixir?

Elixir is an Ayurvedic-inspired hair and scalp oil. Amla, fenugreek and rosemary are slow-infused from a family recipe, then blended with castor, black seed, argan and other nourishing oils.

Who is it for?

Hair that breaks, feels dry or looks flat, and scalps that feel dry or itchy due to dryness.

Why use it before you wash?

Shampoo strips oil along with the dirt. Oiling first helps shield each strand while you shampoo, so hair comes out softer, glossier and less prone to breakage.

Why people love Elixir

It feels light once applied and doesn't feel excessively greasy or heavy… I've used almost two bottles and absolutely love how my hair feels lately — bouncy and shiny.

— Amna N.

You see a difference in your texture even after using it 1–2 times. The shine alone sold me.

— Harvi R.

The best oil I have ever used. I have been using it for the last 2 months. My hair feels healthy and strong. Ordered it for my daughters and grand-daughters too.

— Narjis J.

Ingredients with centuries of use behind them

Hair oiling has been a weekly habit in South Asian homes for generations. Elixir starts from that tradition, a family recipe of herbs slow-infused in oil, then adds botanicals chosen one at a time for what they do for hair and scalp.

Rosemary

Salvia rosmarinus · Spain

A Mediterranean hair rinse for centuries. Here it's infused as leaf and pressed as oil, and it's the first thing you smell.

Black seed

Nigella sativa

Castor

Ricinus communis

A staple of hair oiling for generations. Thick and glossy, it gives lengths weight and shine.

What to expect

  1. Seen from behind, a woman smooths golden oil through the dry lengths of her long dark hair

    When you oil it in

A light, golden oil that smells of fresh herbs and soft florals.

  2. Seen from behind, a woman with her oiled hair in a loose bun and a towel over her shoulders holds a cup of chai by the window

    While it sits

Thirty minutes or overnight. Your scalp feels nourished and comfortable, not tight.

  3. Seen from behind, a woman in a linen robe sits on a wooden stool by a limewash wall, combing her damp hair with a wide-tooth wooden comb, a towel over one shoulder

    After you wash

Hair comes out softer and glossier, and the comb runs through with less breakage.

A bottle lasts about eight weeks, so we suggest a delivery every eight. You can pick a different interval when you subscribe. Cosmetic results; everyone's hair is different.

Common questions about Elixir

Something else? Email [email protected].

Do I put it on wet or dry hair?

Dry. Oil spreads and sits better on a dry scalp, and it washes out cleanly after. For shine, a few drops on damp or dry ends works either way.

How long should I leave it in before washing?

At least 30 minutes. Overnight gives the deepest treatment; wrap your hair or use an old pillowcase.

How often should I use it?

Two or three times a week as a pre-wash treatment. As a daily finish, two or three drops on the ends.

Will it make my hair greasy?

Not after washing. Elixir is built around light oils like coconut MCT, jojoba and moringa, and it washes out with a mild shampoo.

What's the difference between a hair oil and a scalp oil?

A hair oil is smoothed through the lengths for shine; a scalp oil is massaged in at the roots before you wash. Elixir is both: a pre-wash treatment for the scalp and a finishing oil for the ends.

What does Ayurvedic-inspired mean?

Elixir starts from a family recipe in the South Asian hair-oiling tradition: herbs like amla, fenugreek and mulethi slow-infused in oil. We added botanicals from outside that tradition, like jojoba, argan and marula, so it's inspired by Ayurveda rather than a classical preparation.

Is it safe for colour-treated hair?

Yes. Elixir has no silicones, dyes or synthetic fragrance, and it suits all hair types and textures. As with any new product, do a patch test first.

How does the subscription work?

Pick how often you want a bottle (every 8 weeks is about one bottle) and save on every delivery. You can skip, move or cancel anytime from your account.

What if it doesn't work for me?

Try it for 60 days. If you don't love it, we'll refund you, and you keep the bottle.

Where do you ship, and how fast?

Across Canada, except Quebec for now. Orders leave our studio in Ontario within two business days and usually arrive three to seven days later.

I have sensitive skin or allergies. Can I use it?

Check the full ingredient list first: Elixir contains sweet almond oil and essential oils, which can irritate sensitive skin. Patch test on your inner arm 24 hours before your first treatment.
